Comments: | Reintroduced in 1980. Widespread in lakes and slow flowing rivers of North Island. The early imports by Acclimatization Societies established this species in sluggish streams and ponds around Oamaru, and very probably more widely though there are no records. In the 1950s tench were introduced to a lake near Otaki and illicitly in the 1960s, to lakes and rivers around Auckland (Ref. 6452). Recorded from North and South Is and range is expanding (Ref. 52336). Also Ref. 11115 and 13730. Ref: McDowall, R.M., 1984 |
